How to Watch Rugby Union in America

Step 1: Find out the Date, Time and Official Broadcaster

Check Flashscore Rugby and scan the list of games for your game. If there is a TV icon next to it, it will be broadcast either on TV or online (or both). The official broadcaster(s) will be shown here.

Step 2: Decide if you wish to proceed with US based services, or overseas based services.

All options have their pros and cons. Have a look at the options available below and decide what’s the most important criteria for you, e.g. selection of games available, and the annual cost.

Option 1: US Based Broadcasters

ESPN+ and NBC Sports Gold (all the games, separate from the channels) are both around $5 a month and online only.

NBC Sports Gold gets you the Premiership, 6 Nations, and World Cup events (RWC, WRWC, RWC 7s, JWC), and Champions Cup.

ESPN+ has Super Rugby, Rugby Championship, Pro14, and Test Window matches. 2/3s of MLR matches. CBSSN has MLR national match of the week and playoffs. Watching the USA Eagles – watch an overseas broadcaster or use FloRugby.

Option 2: Non-US Based Broadcasters

Get RugbyPass and a VPN and set it to one of the Asian countries it is broadcast in, for example Singapore. This will cover almost all the rugby you can handle for around $160 per year.

By the way, don’t be tempted to use a free VPN, as you are opening yourself up to all kinds of risks.

Option 3: Reddit RugbyStreams

Reddit Rugbystreams allows reddit users and streamers to share links to live streams. The big advantage is that it’s free! The quality varies, and some smaller, lower-profile games might not be shared. It’s a useful option for international games in particular.
